Hampton Hall, SC and its members cheered on a special community resident, Carlos Moleda, as he pedaled to victory in the Race Across America, becoming the first disabled rider to complete the nine-day, 3,000-mile bike race. Moleda’s team crossed the finish line in Annapolis, Md., at 2:29 am on June 29—8 days and 9 hours after they took off on their handcycles from Oceanside, Calif. Champion Hills, NC announces its season-ending Doggie Days event, scheduled for Sept. 20. This unique “dog show” has benefited the Blue Ridge Humane Society since 2002. Pet owners and their pooches dress up and entertain the audience and judges. Judges point out the special features of the dogs and owners to encourage bidding.
