Champion Hills, NC, as part of its Music on the Patio series, welcomes a local bluegrass Band, Buncombe Turnpike to its state this Friday, July 17. The event begins with 5:30 cocktail hour followed by dinner & entertainment. Cost to attend is $32 plus tax and gratuity, per person. Audience participation is much encouraged. Treasure Lake, PA will welcome recording artist John Nemeth to the stage at the Treasure Lake Ski Lodge on Sunday, August 9. Németh released a well-received national debut album, Magic Touch, on Blind Pig Records in 2007. Critics and audiences alike praised Nemeth’s vocal stylings and harmonica playing. The Bay Club, MA has just opened for member use its much-anticipated Short Game Area. Would-be game-improvers gathered July 11 for the debut of this 10-acre practice facility, a fine complement to the community’s Brad Faxon-Brad Booth-designed golf course. Belfair, SC welcomed a new title-holder last Sunday to its roster of Players Amateur winners. Bud Cauley, a sophomore at the University of Alabama, parred in from the 15th to shoot a 6-under-par 282 and claim the coveted national title. Cauley’s victory earns him a berth in the PGA Tour Verizon Heritage event next year. George Bryan IV made a late charge to finish two back with a four-day total of 284.
