Carolina Country Club: Dennis Quaid at the BMW Pro-Am.
After 36 holes, David Mathis is leading the BMW Charity Pro-Am being played this weekend in Upstate South Carolina. Mathis grabbed a two-shot lead, by shooting a 7-under-par 65 at Bright's Creek Golf Club. The tournament has one of the largest purses on the Nationwide Tour with a total purse of $650,000 and a winner's share of $117,000.
The BMW Charity Pro-Am is the only tournament on the Nationwide® PGA TOUR where amateurs and celebrities are grouped with Nationwide PGA TOUR Professionals in a three-day better-ball competition.
Amateurs, celebrities and pros rotate between three courses - Thornblade Club (Greer, SC), The Carolina Country Club (Spartanburg, SC) and Bright's Creek Golf Club (Mill Spring, NC)- with the 14 lowest scoring pro-amateur/pro-celebrity teams advancing to play Sunday's final round at Thornblade Club.
Celebrities competing this weekend include actors Luke Wilson, Greg Kinnear, Dennis Quaid, Joe Pesci, Catherine Bell, Gary Valentine, Michael Pena and Jason Dohring and former "Apprentice" winner Stefanie Schaeffer.
