Dataw Island Club Collects 200+ Toys at Eighth Annual Santa Claus Open Day

Dataw Island Club: Members help children of military families.

Continuing a holiday tradition of helping others, the residents of Dataw Island Club collected more than 200 toys during the eighth annual Santa Claus Open Day, held Sunday, December 13, 2009.

The toys were given to 65 children of deployed military personnel assigned to VMFA AW 533 (Hawks) and VMFA 115 (Eagles) from the U.S. Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) in Beaufort. The Santa Claus Open Day featured a toy drive for the children and Santa’s luncheon for the military families.

“We are very proud of our members who took part in the recent Santa Claus Open Day and helped to provide Christmas toys for the children of Beaufort-area armed service personnel,” said Ted Bartlett, Dataw Island general manager.

“Hosting charity outings such as this is a positive way to help the community and to assist those who are sacrificing for our freedoms.”

Boca Woods Country Club, FL: Members raise funds.

SPECIAL EVENTS

> Boca Woods Country Club, FL recently hosted the Annual Fireman’s Ball to recognize the men and women of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Station 51. Golf Digest Names Cliffs at Keowee Springs a 'Best New Private Course' for 2009

The Cliffs at Keowee Springs SC: Hole No. 7 and No. 8 tee box.

The Cliffs at Keowee Springs golf course perhaps had a harbinger of things to come when its No. 8 hole was named to the GolfCourseHome Dream 18 of Best Residential Golf Holes last March.  Now Golf Digest has just named the course the No. 8 Best New Course' in the U.S. for 2009.

Designed by Tom Fazio designed the par 72, 7,100-yard layout, the course returns to The Clubhouse or The Turnhouse at six-hole intervals, making it one of the most versatile designs in Fazio’s wide repertoire of award-winning courses.

Dataw Island, SC and the Military order of Purple Heart Low Country Chapter #1948 will co-host a second annual benefit golf tournament to support America’s wounded warriors on their road to recovery. The Reserve at Lake Keowee Raises $10,000 at Inaugural Charity Golf Classic

The Reserve at Lake Keowee, SC, raised more than $10,000 at its inaugural Charitable Foundation Golf Classic. Held on Monday, October 5th at the community's Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course, the event's proceeds will be donated to selected Pickens County charities through The Reserve at Lake Keowee’s Charitable Foundation. The tournament will become an annual event at The Reserve, with October 18, 2010 slated as next year’s date.

A total of 84 players took part in the tournament. Members of the winning team included Irv Harrington, Mike McHenry, David Brock and Alan Gall. Each contestant was registered to win a two night stay in a Palmetto Dunes Resort Villa on Hilton Head Island, as well as one round of golf for four people. Local businesses that were unable to play in the tournament participated by sponsoring a hole with a $100 donation.

Residents Suggest Charity Recipients
The money raised from this tournament will be used to enhance the charitable contributions given in 2010 by the new Reserve at Lake Keowee Charitable Foundation. The Charitable Foundation operates as a supporting organization for the philanthropic goals and intentions of The Reserve at Lake Keowee Community Foundation.

Charities which receive donations are suggested by property owners. Each Reserve property owner will receive a ballot of area charities via email in February. The Trustees will give priority to the charities suggested by the results of the property owners’ ballots. The money raised from the golf tournament will be properly allocated to the chosen Pickens County charity in 2010.

Balsam Mountain Preserve Event Raises $30K, Bay Club Holds Patriot Golf Day
